When God doesn't listen

If God even hears me, why doesn't he ever answer? Why? What's wrong?

Answer:

"Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear." (Isaiah 59:1,2)

That's a big problem, and it gets even worse as the chapter continues to list our many offenses against our Creator. It says that we stumble and grope like blind men. We growl, moan and run from the only One who can help us. We defiantly continue in our sin yet wonder why he is so far away.

Remedy:

"He saw that there was no man and wondered that there was no one to intercede: then his own arm brought him salvation. A Redeemer will come to those who turn from transgression." (Isaiah 59:16,20)

As the hymn writer says, "Christ has regarded our helpless estate and has shed his own blood for our soul."

"The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18)

"Whoever conceals his transgressions shall not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy." (Proverbs 28:13)

How great is our need, and greater still the compassion of our God who spared not his own Son so that all who come to him in humble repentance and faith might receive cleansing, forgiveness and eternal life!

"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you." (James 4:8)
